The use of MRIs for lumbosacral spine exams

by Administrator 30. November 2009 06:56

Gadolinium-based contrast agents are used in many different types of MRIs. One type includes lumbosacral spine MRIs, which use magnetic resonance imaging to create a images of the structure of the spine, spinal cord, and the vertebrae.

These images are then used by doctors to diagnose spinal injuries, spinal cancer, or other types of illenesses and injuries. The gadolinium enhances these images so that the doctor can better perform the diagnosis.

The benefit, however, comes at a cost. The use of gadolinium-based contrast agents in MRIs has been linked to a number of negative side effects.

If you or anyone you know has suffered negative side effects due to gadolinium exposure, contact the NSF lawyers of Williams Kherkher at 800-761-3187.
