Study Links Gadolinium to NSF Deaths

by Administrator 14. October 2010 05:59
A study published in the journal of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation has linked several deaths to gadolinium-based contrast agents.

The study, published in 2006, described nine patients with renal failure who had been administered a gadolinium-based MRI contrast agent and, within a few weeks, developed Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis. Some of these patients died due to Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis complications. The United states Food and Drug Administration in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are currently studying the link between gadolinium and death due to Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis.

Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis is a disease which causes thickening and hardening of the skin and connective tissues. The disease was unknown prior to 1997. There is no consistently successful treatment for the disease. Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis can affect internal organs such as the heart, brain, spinal cord, and liver. Death can occur due to internal organ failure.

If you have developed Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis after being administered a gadolinium-based MRI contrasting agent, you may be entitled to compensation. For more information, please contact a gadolinium lawyer of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-761-3187.
