Nephrogenic fibrosing dermopathy is a rare syndrome thatinvolves the hardening of skin and internal organs.

Nephrogenic fibrosing dermopathy was first identified in1997. The condition was not described as an independent disease entity untilthe year 2000. The sydrome’s affect on the skin is the most apparent, which ledto the name nephrogenic fibrosing dermopathy.

The condition was later found to affect any organ and thename was changed to nephrogenic systemic fibrosis.

In 2006, nephrogenic systemic fibrosis was linked to mricontrast agents containing gadolinium. The United States Food and DrugAdministration acknowledge this link in 2009 when the agency issued a black boxwarning for all gadolinium-based contrast agents.

If you have developed nephrogenic systemic fibrosis afterbeing administered a gadolinium-based contrast agent, please contact a gadolinium attorney of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-761-3187.
