Trials on Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis Rising

by Administrator 25. March 2009 05:59

The number of cases and reports of individuals filing lawsuits related to nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) are beginning to rise.  This rise and increase could be attributed to the spread of information and research on this condition and more people becoming aware of the side effects of gadolinium.

There are hundreds of cases pending and many are expected to start in the next year.  Updates will be released when more information is available about the findings and rulings related to these cases.

If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with NSF following a contrast MRI procedure, contact the NSF lawyers of Williams Kherkher to find out if you have grounds for a legal claim. Call 800-761-3187 today.

Is Gadolinium Safe?

by Administrator 25. March 2009 05:45

People have been questioning the safety of gadolinium after many individuals developed serious side effects from the MRI agent.  In individuals that have a healthy and fully functional kidneys,  it is relatively safe.  For individuals who have renal failure,  this may be a very dangerous agent and could result in severe side effects.

Because of this,  it is extremely important that doctors are thorough with their use of gadolinium.  Doctors must take all precautions before using gadolinium otherwise it is unsafe.

New Cases of Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis Down

by Administrator 16. March 2009 07:18

A new study has shown that since the public and medical community discovered a link between nephrogenic systemic fibrosis and gadolinium based MRI contrasting agents,   the number of new nephrogenic systemic fibrosis cases has dropped.  Although it is important to realize that this drop is not consolation for those have been diagnosed and suffered through nephrogenic systemic fibrosis.

This discovery has shown the steps at addressing the problem that the medical community has taken since recognizing the dangers of gadolinium based MRI agents.  It also highlights the direct link between gadolinium and nephrogenic systemic fibrosis.

NSF Suits Being Negotiated by Bayer

by Administrator 16. March 2009 06:57

According to reports, Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis lawsuits are being negotiated by Bayer.

These different cases and suits are being negotiated by representatives from Bayer and the  individuals who developed NSF.

One of the hallmarks of the suits is that proper tests and medical trials were not conducted to determine the safety of the products.

The negotiations are being conducted mostly in private,  but some should reach an agreement to settle in the near future.

NSF Risk for MRI Patients with Kidney Problems

by Administrator 16. March 2009 02:03

Patients with kidney trouble who have received MRIs as part of diagnosis or treatment for any medical condition should be alert for possible signs of Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis, or NSF.

Many FDA-approved MRI contrast agents (chemical solutions used to enhance visibility on MRI scans) contain gadolinium, a heavy metal that has been linked to the development of NSF. In healthy patients, the kidneys are able to filter out the contrast agents' gadolinium content; however, patients whose kidney functions are compromised or reduced in any way may be at risk.

NSF is a serious condition with no definitive treatment. While, initial symptoms typically affect the skin, NSF also attacks vital internal organs, sometimes resulting in death.

If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with NSF following a contrast MRI procedure, contact the NSF lawyers of Williams Kherkher to find out if you have grounds for a legal claim. Call 800-761-3187 today.
